A comprehensive guide to mastering the Directories.ai platform, from setup to advanced AI automation.

1. Directory Setup

Setting up your directory correctly is the foundation for success.

Basic Configuration

Navigate to Settings > General to configure:

  • Directory Name: The public-facing name of your site.
  • Description: Used for SEO and social sharing.
  • Brand Color: The primary color used for buttons and accents.

Custom Domain

To use your own domain (e.g., www.mydirectory.com), go to Settings > Domains. Add your domain and follow the DNS configuration instructions provided.

2. Managing Listings

Listings are the core content of your directory.

Adding a Listing

You can add listings in two ways:

  1. Manual Entry: Click "Add Listing" and fill out the form manually.
  2. AI Import (Recommended): Click "AI Analyze", paste a website URL, and let our agents extract the data for you.

Enrichment

Open any listing and click the "Enrich Data" button. The system will search the web for additional details like social profiles, founding date, and technologies used.

3. AI Tools & Automation

Leverage our AI agents to automate tedious tasks.

Director Agent

Use the chat interface to ask high-level questions like "How can I improve my SEO?" or "Suggest 5 new categories". The Director Agent analyzes your directory and provides strategic advice.

Content Agent

Automatically generate blog posts or listing descriptions. Go to the AI > Content tab, select a template (e.g., "Listing Spotlight"), and provide the listing name.

4. Integrations

Connect external tools to supercharge your workflow.

Database Connections

Connect Supabase, Firebase, or PostgreSQL to sync your data directly. This allows you to use Directories.ai as a frontend for your existing data.

GitHub Sync

Link a GitHub repository to backup your directory configuration and content automatically.
